The 2017/2018 financial year represented a continuation of Oxford Investigation Service’s impressive performance in the counter fraud arena. Targets set for the team were once again significantly exceeded, with 36 Social Housing Tenancy Fraud successes, and over £3 million identified as additional revenue and prevented losses for the Council.
The team managed all of this whilst working in partnership with no less than 8 different organisations – all of whom report a high level of satisfaction for the results that have been obtained. The service has consistently delivered well in excess of what is expected, and has remained at the forefront of innovative techniques including data matching, identity and verification and better use of technology.
The Oxford Investigation Service is still the only local authority fraud team to host its own annual Counter-Fraud Conference, spreading best practice and developing new links in the counter fraud profession.
