I decided to enrol for the IRRV Level 3 Distance Leaning course to support my career progression. At the time, I was working as a Council Tax Recovery Officer within the Corporate Debt Team. My knowledge was primarily focused on post–liability order recovery, with limited understanding of council tax legislation, liability, and very little exposure to non‑domestic rates.

Distance Learning was the most suitable option for me due to my location and being a permanent remote worker. With two children under five, the flexibility to study at times that suited me was invaluable. The recorded tutor sessions were particularly beneficial, allowing me to watch, pause, and revisit the material whenever needed.

The online resources and support available throughout the course were excellent. In preparation for the exams, I completed every past exam paper, all of which the tutors marked and provided detailed feedback on. This played a significant role in building my confidence and contributed to achieving a distinction overall. The quality of guidance from the tutors made it clear that the more you put in, the more you gain in return.

The updated structure and study approach, along with the online portal, helped me stay organised, motivated, and well‑prepared for each exam.

Completing the IRRV qualification has been highly beneficial. I have since progressed to the role of Court and Enforcement Officer and now feel confident dealing with complex queries and complaints, supported by the knowledge gained from the course.

I would highly recommend the qualification to other practitioners. The knowledge, confidence, and sense of achievement it provides is invaluable.
