The Housing, Communities and Local Government (HCLG) Committee has launched an inquiry into council tax collection in England, examining the practices employed by local authorities to collect council tax arrears. This important seminar looks at the background to the Inquiry and responds to some of the misleading statements that have prompted the investigation.
The seminar will also look at other issues raised in the terms of reference including whether there should be changes to the legislation on the recovery of council tax arrears, and how local authority council tax support schemes affect council tax collection rates.
There will be a forensic analysis of the Governments statistics on council tax collection and the impact of the various forms of council tax reduction schemes.
This event will inform part of the Institutes evidence to the Committee, It is therefore important that we canvass the widest possible views. The future of the council tax is at risk. It is therefore important that the evidence reflects all sides of the process.
You cannot afford to miss this event. It is important that the Committee is given informed and factual evidence. This seminar will give you the opportunity contribute to this important issue.
This seminar will be delivered virtually through GoToWebinar.
