Main Categories of Membership and Fees
There is an IRRV grade of membership for everyone working in local authorities and public and private sector valuation. Most new members of the IRRV will join as an Affiliate, Student, Corporate or Honours member. Here are the 2024 fees:
Honours Members have passed or been exempted from the Full Professional or Honours qualification |

Retired Membership is available to eligible members who are no longer in any type of paid employment |

Retired (Technician, Diploma, Corporate, Honours) pay annually or a one-off Life Retired fee. | £67 or £326 |
Fellow Retired pay annually or a one-off Life Retired Fellow fee. | £98 or £481 |
Annual fees are calculated on a pro-rata basis (January-December)
Plus one-off entrance fee of £46.00 **£46.00 fee for re-joining members with outstanding fees

Fellow Membership
Who qualifies: This is a senior category and is aimed at current IRRV (Hons) members who have contributed to the Institutes activities.
- membership of national Council,
- service on a Faculty Board,
- membership of Qualifications Management Board,
- co-opted membership of a committee of Council,
- close involvement with a local Association,
- other service such as regular speaking engagements or mentoring of IRRV students.
Applicants should be actively working in one of the Institutes professional fields.
Retired Honours members who once met the above criteria are also eligible to apply and would be entitled to use the post nominal letters FIRRV Retired.

Honours Membership
Who qualifies:
- Chartered RICS members (MRICS, FRICS)
- Full CIPFA members holding a senior post (i.e. Chief Officer, Head of Service or Chief Financial Officer)
- Individuals who have achieved Honours by qualification (i.e. having submitted a dissertation and attended a viva voce).
Note: Persons not meeting the above criteria can apply for either Corporate or Affiliate membership.

Corporate Membership
Who qualifies: Senior Financial Officers, Client Officers in government, heads of revenues and benefits and senior postholders in appropriate public sector posts. Applicants should have held their post for a substantial period (normally a minimum of five years). Non-UK Valuers who are full members of their national Valuation/Surveying professional body and have held a senior position in a relevant profession for a minimum period of five years, and UK valuers with similar seniority and experience, but who are not necessarily members of a professional body, may also apply for this category.
Members admitted under this category can pursue the Diploma and Honours scheme routes to obtain either IRRV (Dip) or IRRV (Hons)
