Alan Bronte FRICS IRRV (Hons)

Alan Brontë is the current Director of Rating Policy for the Department of Finance in Northern Ireland. Rating Policy Division is part of Land & Property Services (LPS) within the Department, Alan is a member of Management Board in LPS. His specific responsibilities include the comprehensive Business Rates Review announced on 9 May 2019.

Alan was the Commissioner of Valuation for Northern Ireland and Director of Valuation for over 11 years and was statutorily responsible for the domestic and the non-domestic rating system. He also led the LPS valuation service, which delivers a comprehensive valuation, estate management and property advice service to the public sector in Northern Ireland. Alan led the successful Reval2015. He was appointed Commissioner of Valuation for Northern Ireland in 2008. 

He is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, an RICS Registered Valuer, a Honorary Member of RICS Rating Diploma Section, and a Member of the International Association of Assessing Officers. Alan has now over 40 years’ experience within government,

He is a widely known local, national and international conference speaker in his field. Alan has delivered papers at the Commonwealth Heads of Valuation Agencies (CHOVA) conferences in Belfast, Cambridge, Toronto and Scotland, and spoken at the World Bank Land & Poverty Conference in Washington DC.
