Summary of Submission

Using funding from the UK Share Prosperity fund, we have developed a programme to support those with multiple barriers to overcome these and move closer to work, as well as providing financial support to those in employment who wish to develop their skills or gain new ones. This funding stream has allowed us to understand the local skills need and identify gaps within the current provision. Our ability to invest in smaller businesses and self-employed individuals, allowing them to upskill themselves and their workforce to be more competitive and expand their client base, brings more money into the local economy and offers more jobs in the villages across the district. We have developed a relationship with secondary schools in our district to support school leavers who wish to explore alternatives to higher education, through jobs fairs and work experience.
