The 2008 Performance Awards Scheme looks to again build upon the successful schemes of recent years. In 2007, the standard of entries reached an all-time high with a record number of entries received. The new category ‘Most Improved Team of the Year’ attracted the most entries ever received in one category.
There will again be nine categories divided in to ‘Team’ and ‘Excellence’ awards. The changes made last year to streamline the submission process are to continue this year. This will assist those organisations working in the private sector together with those local authorities engaged in ‘shared services’.
All categories have been retained for 2008. This includes the category ‘Most Improved Team of the Year’ which is designed for organisations who have made great strides on the journey to realising their full potential. It gives an opportunity to enter alongside those who are already demonstrating best practice in our marketplace.
The timetable has been brought forward this year to allow for the inspection process to be carried out before August. It will also enable the Institute to announce the finalists much earlier. This will give organisations more time to prepare for Annual Conference that this year, will be held in Manchester from the 30th September 2008 to 3rd October 2008.
Inspection Teams will be drawn from distinguished experts in the fields of Revenues, Benefits and Valuation. This year organisations short-listed for a visit will receive an Inspection pack that provides guidelines on how to prepare for a visit. This is designed to standardise the procedure for inspections.
The Performance Awards Village will again be a feature of the Annual Conference where finalists can discuss their achievements with delegates. The Awards Village will be open on the 1st and 2nd October 2008 which will allow representatives from the finalists to attend the opening day sessions of Annual Conference.
The Gala Dinner, that attracts over 900 people, will be held on the 2nd October 2008. It will be preceded by a Gala Reception where finalists are presented with their certificates. The winners in each of the nine categories will then be announced at the end of the evening when presentations of the trophies takes place.
