Detail

The Fraud and Error Reduction Incentive Scheme (FERIS) provides financial incentives to local authorities who reduce fraud and error in their Housing Benefit cases.

Under the scheme each local authority is set a baseline for a set period to measure their performance against.

Verifying the baseline

Local authorities can copy their Single Housing Benefit Extract (SHBE) data for the baseline period into the FERIS monitoring template to verify their baseline.

Monitoring progress

Local authorities can also use the template to monitor progress in meeting their FERIS thresholds. The thresholds are a percentage reduction in fraud and error that local authorities must make to qualify for help from FERIS.
