Details

These monthly experimental statistics include the total number of people who are on Universal Credit to 14 June 2018.

The statistics are broken down by:

  • Jobcentre Plus office
  • age
  • employment status
  • conditionality regime

DWP will continue to publish statistics on people on Universal Credit every month, but this will not include the data on starts and claims to Universal Credit. This data will only be published quarterly.

From November 2018, the quarterly publication will also include statistics on households on Universal Credit.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is currently investigating a discrepancy with the data on duration on Universal Credit. While we assess the scale of this issue we have removed this breakdown from Stat-Xplore. Caution should be used when viewing this breakdown via other mechanisms (such as supplementary tables).

After investigation of data on the conditionality regime, it was discovered that there was an issue in April 2018 which resulted in a number of people on Universal Credit being placed in the incorrect conditionality regime. The issue was resolved in May 2018 and claimants were returned to their correct conditionality regime. However, figures for the April 2018 conditionality regime should be treated with caution.
