Contract documents for the 2016 Standard Civil Contract.
The 2016 Standard Civil Contract (Welfare Benefits) will govern the provision of legal aid services for welfare benefits in the North and South West and Wales procurement area’s from 1 November 2016.
NB. The provision of welfare benefits work in these 2 procurement areas are currently governed under the 2014 Standard Civil Contract (Welfare Benefits).

The standard terms govern the commercial relationship between the Legal Aid Agency (LAA) and providers. The 2016 Standard Terms (Welfare Benefits) apply to face-to-face civil legal aid services with some amendments.
This sets out the rules on the provision of welfare benefits contract work in relation to welfare benefits work in the North, South West and Wales procurement areas only. The procedures for controlled and licensed work and rates for licensed work can be found in legal aid legislation and are referred to in this specification.
The Standard Civil Contract (Welfare Benefits) 2016 specification is divided into provisions of general application (sections 1 to 6) and category specific rules relating to welfare benefits (section 7).
