Letter to Institute Members from the President and the Chief Executive

Dear colleague

The President of the Institute has recently announced that this year's annual conference will be going virtual because of the ongoing crisis with covid-19.

We value your membership and all that you do to support it and the activities of the profession and we wanted in this to give you more details of the Institutes plans for this exciting event. It is the intention of Council to encourage all members to participate in what will be as always an important occasion in the Institute’s calendar, but also emphasise that this year it’s even more important. To that end in order to encourage as full participation as possible there will be no fee to Institute members for attending, the only requirement will be that you formally register. Details on how to register will be sent out shortly.

This means that you'll be able to attend the plenary sessions on the first day and all four streams on the second day as all the sessions will be recorded and placed on the Conference website. On the third day we will also be holding another of our virtual Association Representatives meetings. During the conference we will also hold the Annual General Meeting of the Institute, again online. Notification will be sent to all members at the appropriate time.

Regrettably it is not going to be practicable to undertake the Performance Awards because we realise the challenges you are all facing and to that end the priority must be given to other matters. But we fully expect that next year they will be back better than ever and we are pleased to announce that we be accepting applications from the 1st January 2021.

The conference this year will also have an exhibition and we are encouraging sponsors and exhibitors to prepare their virtual stands as well as running a series of events and social gatherings. This will be virtually presented and will have lots of exciting facilities for our stakeholders to give them every opportunity to display their products and services. My staff will be in touch with our supporters to hopefully make them an offer they cannot refuse.

The program for the conference will be available in early September however we will be sending regular bulletins to you on the speakers as we retain them for the event. We will also be issuing a call for papers to participate in the streamed sessions. Obviously the Institute will return to its normal format of conferences for 2021 however we felt it necessary send to you as a member and to the wider profession a clear statement of intent that the delivery of professional services through the Institute is business as usual.

Thank you very much for finding time to read this letter and we look forward to seeing your name on the list of registered delegates so that you can take the Institute out of the crisis in good health and with spirits high
