Universal Credit is replacing the following benefits and tax credits:

  • Child Tax Credit
  • Housing Benefit
  • Income Support
  • income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
  • income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Working Tax Credit

In April 2022 DWP published Completing the move to Universal Credit which sets out the strategy for moving remaining benefit and tax credits claimants to Universal Credit.

This document follows on from that strategy and focuses on the first set of ‘Migration Notices’ issued as part of the Discovery work to move existing claimants to Universal Credit. It explains

  • what Discovery is
  • the process the department is using for moving people to Universal Credit
  • what we have learned so far on a range of areas
