Summary
The Government is committed to encouraging good private pension provision and ensuring that employers have confidence in the regulatory environment. As part of its response to the independent deregulatory review1, the Government undertook to explore the scope for risk sharing in occupational pensions. On 5 June 2008, the Government therefore published a wide-ranging consultation document on risk sharing. The consultation closed on 28 August 2008. They received 87 responses to the consultation, the vast majority of which were from organisations linked to the pensions industry, companies or trades unions.This document presents the Government's response to a consultation on risk sharing in occupational pensions.
