Workshop for local authorities prioritising third sector indicators

Published: 15 January 2009

Summary

The Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA) is holding a free workshop on Thursday 12 February 2009 for authorities which have included one of the indicators linked to the Third Sector in their Local Area Agreement (LAA).

The event is aimed at senior and corporate staff working on the delivery of the cross-agency Third Sector agenda.

The 2 relevant indicators are:

  • National Indicator 6 - 'Participation in regular volunteering
  • National Indicator 7 – ‘An environment for a thriving third sector'

There will be an opportunity for attendees to work in small groups to develop action planning around these indicators.  The workshop will also introduce participants to the ‘outcomes based accountability’ methodology (OBA).  OBA is just one model being used by local authority departments and local strategic partnerships to delivery plan, with many councils describing how an outcomes focused approach enables them to plan and deliver better outcomes.

Further information on outcomes based accountability can be found at:

IDeA will write up the findings of the workshop in order to disseminate learning to the wider local government community via the IDeA Knowledge website. You can find out more information contacting Zoe Swanson at zoe.swanson@idea.gov.uk or on 020 7296 6686.
