Right Time Indicator (RTI)

The latest official statistics on Right Time Indicator (RTI) produced by the Department for Work and Pensions were released on 31st March 2010 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

The RTI measures the average time to process a new Housing Benefit / Council Tax Benefit claim or a change in circumstance of an existing Housing Benefit / Council Tax Benefit claim.

Right Time Indicator measures for Quarter 1 and Quarter 2 of 2009/2010. The key points from the latest release are:

  • For quarter 1 2009/10 (April, May and June) the overall RTI average for Great Britain is 14 days.
  • The average number of days to process new claims for quarter 1 is 28 days and the average number of days to process a change of circumstances 11 days.
  • For quarter 2 (July, August and September) the overall RTI average for Great Britain is 14 days.
  • The average number of days to process new claims for quarter 2 is 25 days and the average number of days to process a change of circumstances 11 days.
