Details

On 3 February 2022 the government announced an energy bills rebate to help with the cost of living. This includes a £150 council tax rebate for households in bands A to D.

This page includes:

  • guidance to billing authorities on delivering the support to households in their area
  • allocations for billing authorities for the council tax rebate and £144 million discretionary fund
  • a methodology note for the allocations

On 16 March, the government published answers to the most frequently asked questions following publication of this guidance.

The payment process will be managed by local councils rather than central government. Councils will be in touch with eligible households about the rebate.

Households can enter their postcode into the Find your local council webpage to identify their local council.
