DLUHC is carrying out a data collection to gather information on the impact COVID-19 is having on local authority finances.
The data collection is designed to provide government with ongoing financial management information on financial pressures councils are experiencing due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The data collection is not a formal return but best estimates to inform work in government on supporting local authorities.
The data collection is presently aimed at Finance Directors in 333 local authorities; fire and rescue authorities or combined authorities are not included in this survey. Information has been collected from local authorities monthly since April 2020. The collection will be run on a regular basis while the government’s response to the pandemic is ongoing.
This data shows councils’ COVID-19-related additional expenditure, income loss and allocation of the government emergency funding, as well as estimations of the full year impact.
