The guidance is for:
It relates to local authority-maintained schools and academies in England.
This guidance sets out the terms and conditions applied to the schools supplementary grant (SSG) allocations and payments to mainstream schools for the financial year beginning 1 April 2022.
This guidance will help local authorities and schools understand how the grant is calculated for 2022 to 2023 and how this will be paid to schools and academies.
You can view the allocations for the SSG. A first payment of SSG will be made to local authorities in May 2022, and June 2022 for academies. A second payment will be made to local authorities in October 2022, and November 2022 for academies. A further payment of SSG will be made to local authorities for new and growing maintained schools in February 2023, and to new and growing academies in March 2023.
In recognition of the funding cycle for academies, which follows the academic year (rather than the financial year, as for local authority maintained schools), academies will receive an additional allocation of the SSG to cover April to August 2023.
You can find out more about the dedicated schools grant (DSG) settlement for 2022 to 2023 following the autumn 2021 spending review.
