IRRV Annual Scottish Benefits & Benefits Fraud Conference 2013

IRRV in Scotland is delighted to announce the return of the Scottish Benefits and Benefits Fraud Conference, again taking place at Crieff Hydro Hotel – on Wednesday 4th and Thursday 5th December 2013.

This is a major event in the Institute’s calendar and an excellent opportunity for senior benefits practitioners and their staff to hear about the key issues affecting the administration of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction in Scotland.

With hugely significant changes to welfare upon us, including the provision of housing costs support, the IRRV is pleased to advise of a very strong field of speakers and an extremely comprehensive programme of topics at this year’s Scottish Benefits and Benefits Fraud Conference.

This year we will again have a programme of parallel sessions aimed at Benefit Fraud Officers.   The parallel sessions ensure there will be something for everyone at this year’s Conference, whether a “mainstream” benefits practitioner or a fraud specialist.

We are pleased to again be holding an accompanying exhibition, allowing delegates to have the opportunity to visit companies specialising in areas of interest to them.

The Benefits Conference for Scottish practitioners :   This is the key event in Scotland for all practitioners with an interest in the effective management of the Housing & Council Tax Benefits Service.   The Conference is, in particular, aimed at:

°                      Benefits Managers and other senior benefits staff, including Team Leaders

°                      Members of Housing Benefit, Scottish Welfare Fund & Council Tax Reduction Teams

°                      All who provide welfare rights and benefits advice, both in the voluntary and local government sectors

°                      Housing providers in the local government, RSL and private sectors

°                      Audit staff with responsibility for auditing the Benefits function

°                      Other finance and housing department staff with an interest in current issues in welfare and housing support

The Conference also represents excellent value for money, with seminar fees starting at only £250 + VAT for non-residential delegates (both days) and £315 + VAT for full residential delegates.   The residential rate includes attendance at both days of Conference, refreshments, attendance at the Conference Gala Dinner on Wednesday together with bed and breakfast, lunch on Wednesday & Thursday and all Conference documentation.   Conference fees have been held for the fourth year running and represent best value for the leading benefits event in Scotland.

The 2013 Conference Programme :  We are pleased to advise of a very strong field of speakers and topics covered this year.     Subjects covered include:

  • Ministerial address – the Welfare Reform Challenges
  • Progress with Welfare Reform – the DWP perspective
  • Universal Credit – outcomes from the Pathfinders
  • Universal Credit Workshop – main issues
