Dear stakeholder
You (or your organisation) have previously responded to consultations undertaken by this Department on the issue of small business rate relief or matters related to it.
I am writing to inform you that the Department has today launched a public consultation on Small Business Rate Relief. The evaluation work is being undertaken by the Northern Ireland Centre for Economic Policy (NICEP) at the University of Ulster. A consultation paper can be found at the attached link on the Rating Policy website:
http://www.dfpni.gov.uk/rating-review/sbrr_public_consultation_paper.pdf
This consultation is not simply about gathering views and opinions. Evidence is needed to help with the assessment of the scheme’s effectiveness, as well as value for money and to inform decision about what, if anything, should replace the current scheme when it ends in March 2015.
The consultation is seeking responses from organisations and ratepayers:
This is an open consultation and responses from organisations and individual ratepayers are welcome. Comments should be provided by Tuesday 1st July 2014. Written responses should be sent to:
The Northern Ireland Centre for Economic Policy,
Room 1D09,
University of Ulster,
Jordanstown,
BT37 0QB.
Email responses may also be sent to: nicep@ulster.ac.uk
I am sorry to greet you as ‘Dear Stakeholder’ and that I cannot address you personally but this email is being sent to a considerable number of organisations and individuals. An advertisement will be placed in the 3 main regional newspapers next week to alert others to this important consultation.
