Local authorities and the Valuation Office Agency have key roles to play in the administration of Non-Domestic Rating (NDR) commonly known as Business Rates, Council Tax and Housing Benefits. It is important for us to work in partnership with local authorities to ensure ratepayers, council taxpayers and Housing Benefit claimants receive a good level of service, and that rates, taxes and benefits are administered effectively.
This Charter explains what you as a local authority can expect from us and what we need from you to achieve this. It sets out a basis for building strong partnerships through regular local discussions about the way we work together to deliver our services.
