Detail

A request for information was made about the number of vehicles using the QE Bridge and the number using the tunnels; the number of vehicles registered outside the UK; the number of drivers who failed to pay the penalty before the £105 (for cars) became due; the number of those not paying the penalty which were registered outside the UK; the number being operated on ‘trade plates’ where the camera failed to read the correct registration plate; and the revenue lost through the fee payable exceeding the administrative cost of tracing a non UK registered vehicle. In response, the Highways Agency provided the information requested.
