Telecommunications Infrastructure Bill: Commons Second Reading

MPs debated the Second Reading of the Telecommunications Infrastructure (Relief from Non-Domestic Rates) Bill in the House of Commons on 10 July 2017. 

 

MPs debated the main principles of the Telecommunications Infrastructure (Relief from Non-Domestic Rates) Bill at its Second Reading debate on 10 July 2017. The Bill passed its Second Reading without a division and will now proceed to a Committee of the Whole House on a date yet to be announced.

Summary of the Bill

 

The Telecommunications Infrastructure (Relief from Non-Domestic Rates) Bill aims to:

  • provide a new relief for five years for the installation of new optical fibre – as announced in the Autumn Statement 2016.
  • provide the framework for the relief with further conditions for eligibility to be provided in regulations.
