Summary

The SSAC is consulting on government proposals for moving claimants to Universal Credit from other working age benefits.

This consultation ran from
22 June 2018 to 10am on 20 August 2018

Consultation description

From 2019 the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will start to move claimants on one or more of the following benefits to Universal Credit:

  • Working Tax Credit
  • Child Tax Credit
  • income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Income Support
  • Housing Benefit

The proposals are set out in the draft Universal Credit (Transitional Provisions) (Managed Migration) Amendment Regulations 2018.

The Social Security Advisory Committee (SSAC) has begun this consultation to help inform the advice it provides to the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions on the proposals.

The ‘Keeling schedule’ shows how earlier regulations would be changed by the new regulations.
