This guide explains what Universal Credit means for claimants who own their own business or would like to do so.

It describes what will be expected of claimants who are self–employed and how their Universal Credit payments will be calculated. It also explains how Universal Credit supports new businesses, especially during their first 12 months, giving people time to help make their business a success.

There’s also information about how self-employed claimants will need to report their earnings.
