The Prison Service Chaplaincy, in partnership with the Youth Justice Board, the Probation Service and voluntary organisation Clinks, has organised a national conference 'Faith Matters Too' on 15 October for faith-based voluntary and community groups working with offenders.

The conference, which is being held at the Abbey Centre in London, aims to improve understanding of how statutory services can work with faith groups and communities to help offenders lead crime-free lives.

The event will give faith-based organisations a platform to celebrate their success stories, raise issues that affect them and highlight their concerns for the future. The day will create a forum for voluntary and community organisations, criminal justice practitioners and policy-makers to discuss solutions to these issues and concerns.

Keynote speakers include Michael Spurr, the Chief Operating Officer of NOMS (the National Offender Management Service), Ian Poree, Director of Commissioning and Operational Policy at NOMS, and Dr Alan Billings, a Member of the Youth Justice Board.

Further information on the conference is available on the Clinks website, or by contacting Jean Coates on 01904 673 970 or by email.
