Cabinet Office announces Anne McGuire MP as new advisor on Third Sector innovation

Kevin Brennan Minister for the Third Sector has welcomed Anne McGuire MP as Cabinet Office Advisor on Third Sector Innovation.
Kevin Brennan said:
“I am delighted to welcome Anne to the Cabinet Office in her new role as advisor on third sector innovation. Anne has extensive experience of both public service reform and the third sector. As the former Minister for Disability at the Department of Health, she worked closely with a range of health and social care organisations and has particular expertise in the role that disability organisations play in driving the transformation of health and social care provision.
“Anne also has extensive experience in the third sector, as a former Deputy Director of the Scottish Council of Voluntary Organisations and as a volunteer for adults with learning disabilities."
Anne will investigate the role that third sector organisations can play in empowering citizens to steer the design and delivery of more personalised public services. This work will focus initially on health and social care services, but then move to consideration of other areas of delivery.
Anne’s new role will be to identify and promote opportunities for the third sector to support the creation of world class public services. She is well placed to support Kevin Brennan and putting the third sector right at the centre of the wider public service reform agenda.
Anne McGuire MP said:
“I am excited about this opportunity to contribute to the Government’s outstanding third sector agenda, especially at this challenging time when we must embrace the sector and acknowledge its vital role in delivering innovative and essential services to the public.
“I am very much looking forward to drawing on my experience of working with disability organisations and the voluntary sector which will enable me to inform and promote opportunities for the third sector to build on world class public services in the UK.”
Anne McGuire’s role will be part of an important programme of work for the Government and the third sector. It builds on the Office of the Third Sector’s’ support of the Innovation Exchange and demonstrates the Government’s continuing commitment to harnessing and cultivating the third sector’s contribution to the future of public services.
