Coronavirus business support schemes: statistics

This paper collates data on the number of applications and total support provided under the UK Government coronavirus business support schemes. The attached excel spreadsheet allows users to view data by Parliamentary constituency.

The Government has announced financial support initiatives for businesses impacted by the coronavirus outbreak, including:

  • Employment schemes: Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) and Self-Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS);
  • Business loan schemes and finance agreements: Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Schemes (CBILS and CLBILS), Bounce Back Loan Scheme (BBLS), the Future Fund and Covid Corporate Financing Facility (CCFF) ;
  • Business rates relief and grant funding;
  • VAT deferrals;

amongst others. This paper provides data on the number of applications and total support provided under each of the above schemes. It will be updated regularly as data becomes available. Data on the loans and employment schemes is now be published monthly.

What data is available?

Data by Parliamentary constituency is available for the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBILS), Bounce Back Loan Scheme (BBLS), Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) and Self-Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS). The attached excel contains a lookup table that allows users to view data by constituency.

Estimates of business rates relief and grant funding by English local authority area and Parliamentary constituency is also provided in the excel attached to this briefing.

Regional and industry sector data for the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBILS) and Bounce Back Loan Scheme (BBLS) is provided in this briefing.

Industry and regional data on the employment schemes is provided in the Library briefing paper: Coronavirus: Impact on the labour market (CBP 8898).

Data on the names of businesses receiving support is only published for the Covid Corporate Financing Facility and is provided in the excel attached to this briefing.

This is a fast-moving issue and information should be read as correct at the date of publication (25 August 2020).
