The Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee continues its inquiry into data transparency and accountability on Thursday 5 November when they take evidence from local government and public health leaders.
Prior to the resumption of a national lockdown, the Government had initiated a localised approach to identify areas where Covid-19 infections were increasing and initiating targeted measures to reduce its spread. The ‘three tier’ approach in England is currently expected to be the basis for the Government’s long-term strategy to mitigate the health and economic consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In this session the Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee will take evidence from local government leaders from across the country about their experience of implementing the three tier strategy. This will include how data is collected and shared between local authorities and central government, as well as the data quality and accuracy underpinning decision making. The Committee will also examine the rules and parameters for deciding on which tier a local area should be under and how well economic and health concerns are balanced.
