Consultation description

This call for evidence is seeking views on challenges to progression in low pay sectors, benefits of progression to employers and localities, and examples of good practice across the country.

The call for evidence invites views on the on the following:

  • specific barriers to progression in the areas of retail, hospitality, construction, business support services, and care work
  • impact of progression pathways and other initiatives on businesses
  • benefits of identifying and nurturing existing talent
  • the importance of progression for enabling and empowering people to change jobs
  • how to embed a culture of lifelong learning in the workforce
  • the role of Jobcentres in supporting progression
