Consultation underway into local authority charging regulations
A consultation was launched today to review draft changes to Local Authority charging regulations that will help deliver faster property searches for homebuyers.
The 12 week consultation will clarify what is meant by access to data, ensure transparency in setting charges, and establish a charging regime based on the local cost of recovering information.
The proposed changes to the regulations will provide a level playing field for Local Authorities and private search firms to compete for business.
It will speed up searches, improve the quality of the product, increase the number of Local Authorities giving open access to data and remove the need for insurance cover.
